Long-Lasting Quality – Vreeken Bouvardia
It’s Friday morning and I have an appointment with Jaap and Tineke Vreeken, brother and sister work together with Father Krijn…. you can feel this team is in balance.
Vreeken Bouvardia with four generations of breeders blood is a real family business and leading grower of Bouvardia. With years of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm they produce all year round reliable Bouvardias.
We drink coffee in the new office and walk through the nursery which has just been extended to 5 hectares. Tineke shows me ‘Violet’ and ‘Coral’ and tells me there comes a beautiful new variety named ‘Sweet Roza’, available from June. The Bouvardias are grown traditionally, as a shrub. In this way the plants can grow at their own speed, using all their energy to make a strong stem with nice, large umbels.
UNIQUE PROJECT with DIRECT CURRENT
Vreeken Bouvardia is the instigator of a new and unique partnership for supplementary light using direct current. Lighting powered by direct current is more sustainable and cost effective. Jaap tells; we are very proud of this unique project and we do everything we can to optimise the quality of the Bourvardias.
They are MPS A certified and where possible they use organic plant protection and recycle the water used for irrigation. That’s good for the environment.
This is a very interesting story to communicate to the florists. I experience consumers will choose to buy more conscious. In addition, they want to know more about the origin of the flowers and if it’s sustainable and good for the environment. Nowadays the Bouvardia is a welcome addition to any bouquet arrangement it’s a beautiful flower that keeps well with a vase life of 14 days.
Now you know more about the grower of Bouvardia you can use it to distinguish yourself. On the website www.vreekenbouvardia.nl you can learn more and you can follow Vreeken bouvardia on facebook.
