Captain Calla

To see the most beautiful selection of Calla I paid a visit to breeder Kapiteyn in Anna Paulowna. On the open door days it was possible to see the new varieties and to meet the people of Kapiteyn. As breeders they believe that ‘New’ alone is not good enough, they work to improve their Calla assortment every day. You can find Captain Callas everywhere around the world: from China, Colombia, Kenya to France, their brand is known worldwide. John Kapiteyn, one of the brothers, explains the process of testing and propagating. Preparing only begins when a Calla is considered to be good enough to be renamed Captain Calla. It is very interesting to see how they work and after making some pictures in the greenhouse I explain to Alex about my platform to connect grower and florists and how we can share the passion for Callas. Alex was very enthousiastic so the other day the total 26 Captain Calla varieties arrived at FlowerSense in Aalsmeer to make pictures for my website.
